We have many meals here over the years and it has never let us down. Great food great service.
Nice place, I have been there twice and enjoyed both times. Nice meals and good prices. However the plates are taken away too fast. My pudding was taken away from me when I haven't finished it and nobody asked me if I finished it or no. It was very disappointing. Also when I was there first time I left a little present on the table what was taken away as a rubish....
Very good experience in general, the service was good and food was of a high standard. The service charge was 9.60 which I personally found excessive, as like to leave a tip of about 2 - 3 pounds.I like the Feathers very much but will probably express my dissatisfaction with the service charge the next time I attend and eat there.
A gentrified and relaxed atmosphere in this established hotel. The public areas are welcoming and the staff friendly. The bar area and lounge has a good variety of comfortable seating as well as open fires. Bar staff are attentive and a good selection of drinks available. Fuggles restaurant (a strange name to some but this is a hop strain, plenty of which hang from the ceiling) has a pleasing menu and the food and preparation are superb, local products are promoted. The wine list is good, I've never been disappointed with my choice. The menu, whilst fairly extensive, doesn't seem to change that often is maybe my only minor criticism. The Feathers tends to be my preferred meeting place before going on elsewhere, drinks are more expensive but the pleasant surroundings make this worth the premium. For a treat an hour in the lounge with friends for a drink and then a meal in Fuggles makes for a very pleasant evening. Not quite as expensive as you might expect.
Fantastic service and staff, nothing is a problem. Refillable water bottles provided free in room, we did not experience any tray charges for room service. Beds very comfortable with good quality and ample complimentary toiletries. Brilliant location in centre of town with many other dining options within 200m. Food in the hotel is good,breakfast is substantial. We would like more showcasing of local produce. 3 log fires gave a literally warm feel to the hotel.The hotel has a good sized car park but it does fill up and spaces can't be reserved. Thoroughly recommend this hotel
